ABOUT LUNA

Luna spent the first few years of her life in Cyprus; it is believed that Luna was a hunting dog and was dumped after being deemed ineffective or surplus to requirements. Unfortunately, she has scars on her ears, head and legs from this but is now living a life of luxury in Salisbury where she enjoys lots of walks, food and cuddles. She prefers the quieter life, with lots of naps, but also loves going on adventures and visiting people within her circle of trust.

Luna was extremely nervous when she first came to the UK but, over time, she has grown her confidence and has realised that life can be safe and also fun. She is thought to be about nine years old (as of 2024) and although she gets some aches and pains, she is fairly agile and energetic. She is very head strong and independent; for example, she often insists she gets walked a particular route.

Luna missed out on a pleasant puppyhood so never learnt to play with toys, but she finds otherways to be playful and keep occupied. For example, she loves being given a puzzle where she has to work out how to get a treat out of an object. She really does love to run and sniff, adoring her walks, but she does also love to be cosy, and sleeps about 16 hours a day.

Luna had her DNA tested to find out what breed she is: it turned out that she is a pointer-beagle mix but also with many other breeds including chihuahua and German Shepherd! She is about the size of a beagle, at 18kg. As she was bred for hunting, she has a strong prey drive which makes her more at risk of getting lost (again!). However, she now has a GPS tracker attached to her harness which means she can always be found.
